Vaisakhi message from British Prime Minister

David Cameron the British Prime Minister sent the following message on the Sikh New year celebrations. Mr Cameron also joined Sikh celebrations at Gravesend Sikh Temple in Kent.

I send my best wishes to everyone in Britain and around the world celebrating Vaisakhi. I know that this festival is an important time for the Sikhs as you come together with friends and family to commemorate the birth of khalsa.
This year marks 160 years since the firs Sikh came to Britain. Since that time you have made an incredibly important contribution to our country in so many ways.

The Dal Khalsa took a dig at Centre for releasing postal stamp of former Punjab Chief Minister Beant Singh terming the Congress leader as a ‘murderer of Sikh youth
Party spokesperson Kanwar Pal Singh said the Centre’s’ decision to release the postal stamp as a tribute on the former chief minister on his 18th death anniversary was tantamount to rubbing salt on the simmering wounds of the Sikh people.’
